Compare Cuisinart vs Whynter vs Breville Ice Cream Makers
All of the ice cream machines are high quality. But each one doesn’t suit every ice cream lover.
If you have a larger family or you like to make extra to keep in the freezer, you may prefer the Whynter ice cream maker because this machine includes a 2.1 quart bowl for making larger quantities of ice cream.
In comparison, the Cuisinart and Breville machines use 1.5 quart bowls.
Similarly, all the bowls require washing by hand.
Footprint on your counter
Dimensions for the Cuisinart are: 16.73 L x 12 D x 9.33 H inches
The Whynter machine measure: 16.75 L x 11.25 D x 10.25 H inches
The Breville has the following dimensions: 15 3/4 L x 11 D x 11 H inches
As you can see, these ice cream machines are very similar in size. They will take up about the same amount of room on your counter, for instance.
The power for each machine in watts is:
- Cuisinart – about 260 watts (this is based on a calculation of 2.4 amp x 110 volts to get 264 watts – but please correct me if my calculation is wrong. I’m not an electrical engineer or anything similar!!)
- Whynter – 180 watts
- Breville – 165 watts
In comparison the Cuisinart at 23.7 lbs, Whynter at 24.2 lbs and the Breville at 30 lbs, makes the Breville the heaviest. Therefore, the other two compressor ice cream makers are very similar in weight.
If you know you’re going to be frequently lifting the compressor ice cream maker onto your counter from a different height shelf, you may want to consider one of the lighter models.
The biggest differences between these compressor ice cream makers are the settings.
And one of the features that may be most important to you is the duration of the Keep Cool mode on each machine. There is a big difference between them.
Cuisinart offers Keep Cool for 10 minutes after your ice cream is made. Whynter gives you 30 minutes in Keep Cool mode. And Breville lets you keep Cooling the ice cream for up to 3 hours after it is made.
Breville also churns the ice cream during this Keep Cool time automatically when it is required.
Therefore, if you know you’ll use this function, it’s worth making your purchasing decision based on the duration of Keep Cool time you need.
Alignment of Control Panel
The Cuisinart is designed in more of a vertical or portrait alignment. And the control panel is at the top of the machine.
Whereas, the Whynter and Breville machines are more like a horizontal or landscape alignment with the control panel on the right hand side.
For most people the design alignment won’t be an issue on a compressor ice cream maker. But if you know exactly where you want to place your ice cream machine on your counter then this is something that might affect which model you buy.
Each of these compressor ice cream maker machines is high quality and you’ll get delicious ice cream from it. It will come down to personal preference for the settings, weight and control panel alignment of the machine if you want to distinguish between them.
