Is a Philips Airfryer worth the money?

When I first heard people talking about air fryers, I thought all air fryers were created equal. This is not the case. Philips created the air fryer and they still lead the way.

If you’re tempted to try a cheaper brand just be forewarned that the inner surface may flake off and the cooked end-result may not be what you expect.

But if you’re looking for a healthy way to cook in quicker time, using less electricity but achieving superior results, then the Philips Airfryer is what you’re looking for. Sure, there are other brands that are still up to the job but let’s face it, once you try a Philips Airfryer, you’ll fall in love with it like everyone else.

Hesitating?

If there’s any hesitation about spending the money on a Philips Airfryer, just seek out someone who already owns one and there’s an extremely high chance of them raving about their Airfryer. I’ve not heard a bad word against the Philips Airfryer from anyone I know. However, there are the occasional bad reviews on Amazon. This is usually because a chunk of non-stick surface has come away from the bottom of the air fryer. Please be aware of this in the first few weeks of owning your Airfryer. I believe it is rare, and I’m guessing it’s as a result of an occasional manufacturing fault. Like any new product, use it, check it and if there’s a fault return it during the guarantee time.

Once you own a Philips AirFryer and you discover you can cook many different foods in half the time they take in a conventional oven, you may easily start using it every day, sometimes twice a day. When you realize how important it has become to your daily life, you appreciate owning a high-quality appliance that you know you can rely on.

The most important thing to do is compare Philips AirFryer models before you buy one. By giving priority to your personal cooking habits you’ll get the best AirFryer without over-spending.

If you spend a few extra dollars on the Philips brand to get quality, do the math and average it out over a year’s worth of cooking and you’ll realize it was worth it. Now multiply the benefits over several years into the future. I think you’ll find it’s worth it!

The Philips Airfryer HD9220 currently (at the time of writing) has 4.4 out of 5 stars on Amazon for more than 800 reviews. The Philips XL Airfryer HD9240 also has a rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars on Amazon and that’s for almost 300 reviews. The ratings speak for themselves.

What exactly is the Philips AirFryer?

For the price on this Philips Viva TurboStar HD9621 AirFryer, Click Here.

Before you compare Philips AirFryer models you should know that the Philips AirFryer is a small convection oven which can fry your food with less than a tablespoon of oil.

It circulates high heat throughout the oven drawer and basket to cook the food more rapidly.

Due to Rapid Air Technology the food gets cooked thoroughly even if it is piled together in the basket (like fries).

The Philips AirFryer can fry, bake, grill and roast food. If you’re frying with air and very little oil, you not only save calories but you’re reducing the amount of fat that goes into your body.

Any fat or oil on the food can drip through the basket and gets caught in the tray below. This means healthier cooking.

Philips Airfryer weight?

If you’ve used a Philips Airfryer before you’ll know how good they are. If you’ve never used one, it’s worth noting that these are not small (I’ve included the dimensions for each model in the reviews below).  They will take up quite a lot of room on your counter. Before I first got one I thought we’d just use it occasionally and I’d keep it on a bottom shelf in a cupboard. Don’t think this way! Once you have it you’ll want to use it 4 or 5 times a week, maybe more. You’ll want to keep it on your counter because it’s so handy for cooking meals faster.

To compare Philips AirFryer models by weight, you’ll see they vary between 11 – 15lbs. They’re not light. If you prefer not to lift a heavy appliance you’ll need to take this into account before you purchase an Airfryer. It’s fine if you’re going to leave it sitting on the counter. But if you need to move it regularly, this won’t suit someone with wrist/hand problems or weakness in their arms.

What size capacity Philips Airfryer do I need?

To compare Philips AirFryer models by capacity you’ll need to change your thinking.

For the price on this Philips Avance XL, Click Here.

The larger Philips models, like the Philips Avance XL Airfryer, are directed at families and they suggest 4 serves can be cooked at a time. While this is accurate if you’re rating the capacity, it’s a little bit different if you take into account the footprint of the cooking surface available.

You definitely get a better cooked result if you leave more space around the food. Sure, you can pile a bag or two of French fries into the Airfryer and it’ll do a great job. But if you want to cook dinner with fish, vegetables and some fries then you’ll want to space the food out and there’s plenty of room for dinner for two in the large Philips Avance XL with a capacity of 2.65lbs.

This is why I suggest that singles or couples may want to think about buying the larger Avance XL model.

Now you might be wondering: Why does Philips measure capacity of their Airfryers by weight?  Why not volume?

I did ask Philips this question directly. But I didn’t get a definitive answer. I know it’s a little bit of a tricky and slightly technical question, but it was a genuine concern for me.

Philips said, “[i]f the food weighs more than the given capacity, there’s a possibility that it won’t be cooked well”.

Now there were, of course, other comments to-and-fro trying to address this question, but I guess that comment (above) is essentially all we really need to know about the capacity as weight vs capacity as volume debate when we’re talking about an air fryer.

However, just to add complication to this, I did read an Amazon review where someone could happily cook a 5 lb chicken in a Philips Avance XL which has a capacity of 2.65 lbs. So I’m going to leave that one to your own judgement!

What are the advantages of cooking with a Philips AirFryer?

If you want to compare Philips AirFryer models you should know that they can all fry, bake, grill and roast. The Rapid Air Technology used in the AirFryer makes it a versatile cooking appliance. Because of the way the air circulates, you only need little to no oil for your cooking. This equates to healthier and lower calorie meals.

Cooking in a Philips Airfryer is much faster than a traditional oven and you don’t have to heat up a large oven. If you live in a hot climate this is a bonus because you’re not heating up the whole kitchen every time you cook. And for everyone else (who doesn’t live in a hot climate) the advantage is, you save electricity by cooking faster in an AirFryer.

Cooking fries from a frozen packet in a Philips Airfryer is often half the time compared to using a traditional oven. And you cook at a lower temperature than a conventional oven.

Less oil means you save on calories and eat healthier. Of course, there’s also the taste. Food cooked in an air fryer is crispy and light on the outside (because there’s very little oil involved) and moist on the inside. Fried chicken is delicious in an AirFryer and French fries turn out perfect.

If you need to check on your food during cooking, it’s very easy because you don’t have to lean down to an oven or open a heavy door. The AirFryer sits on your counter and the cooking drawer slides out from the front of the machine.

By using an AirFryer you also save your kitchen from the smell of frying oil compared to using a regular fryer.

Disadvantages?

As mentioned, these are not small. The Philips AirFryer weighs 11 to 15 lbs depending on the model. If you’re going to leave it on your counter that’ll work. But if you’re going to be putting the AirFryer away to store it, you may not want to keep lifting the weight of it. If you want to compare Philips AirFryer models on weight then the TurboStar models are the lightest.

The AirFryer does take up room on your counter. If you don’t have a lot of counter space, this will be a problem.

The capacity of the basket where the food goes is obviously not as large as a traditional oven. This can be a disadvantage depending on the size of your family. The solution is to cook multiple batches (but then you can’t serve everyone’s food at the same time) or to buy a second AirFryer (you may not want the extra cost).

Let’s Compare Philips Air Fryer Models…

Advantages of the Philips Avance XL HD9240 vs Philips Viva models

The larger Avance XL HD9240 does have a higher wattage than the smaller models and most people who have used both, swear by the faster cooking time on the larger AirFryer.

If you want to compare Philips AirFryer models then you should know that the oven drawer on the Avance XL slides out on rails whereas the smaller models slide out on your counter. This is usually not a problem for most people but if you really don’t want the drawer sliding out on your counter, you’ll want to get the larger Avance XL model.

The Philips AirFryer Avance XL HD9240 has a capacity of 2.65 lbs whereas the Philips AirFryer Viva models have a smaller capacity of 1.75 lbs. As mentioned above, if you want to compare Philips AirFryer models then you need to know that the XL AirFryer is not just for families.

The XL offers advantages to singles and couples as well. This is particularly important when you want to cook a whole meal like dinner or lunch for one or two people. If you’re only cooking side dishes then the smaller capacity Viva AirFryers are enough for one or two people.

Do you need an on/off switch?

Before we look at individual models, I should mention one feature that can be important for any kitchen appliance that sits on your counter. If you want an on/off switch on your AirFryer, you’ll need to purchase one of the models with a digital display.

These are the only ones to include the on/off switch. For the other models you’ll need to switch them off at the electrical socket.

Some people don’t mind whether there’s an on/off switch or not. But for others it’s a big deal. It’s best to know about this feature before you buy. There are buying options in the Viva, TurboStar and Avance models to get an on/off switch.

When you look at the digital display on a Philips Airfryer you can clearly see the symbol for the power button. You’ll know the one when you see it – the almost full circle with a vertical line at the top! This is your on/off switch.

Let’s take a look at each model, to compare Philips AirFryer models…I’m going to start with one of the most popular models and move on from there to four other models as well.

Compare Philips AirFryer models…

⇒ Philips AirFryer Viva HD9220 Review

The Philips HD9220 comes in a choice of two colors: black or white. There is usually a price difference on the two colors but it depends on whether one color has a special sales price, so you need to check the price on the day you’re buying (to check today’s price, click on the images below…)

The HD9220 is very popular. This is one of the less expensive Philips AirFryers. It’s often on a discounted price (Check here for today’s price).

The control interface is analog. There are two dials, one at the top to set the temperature and another above the handle to set the cooking time. The timer goes to a maximum of 30 minutes. The temperature dial goes up to 390 degrees F.

If you prefer a digital touch panel control then you’ll need to look at the Philips AirFryer HD9230 (see the next review) which is very similar to the HD9220 but has the digital interface.

As mentioned, the prices on these AirFryers change so the digital HD9230 can sometimes be cheaper than the analog HD9220. At the time of writing, the HD9220 was about $30 cheaper than its digital cousin. So if you don’t need a digital interface I’d recommend saving your money and going with the turn dial model.

Philips AirFryer HD9220

⇒  For an excellent price on the Philips HD9220, See Here.

Of course, if you’re young or technology minded, do remember that this AirFryer will probably sit on your counter for all your friends and family to see. So, if you think you can’t live without digital on display, buy the HD9230! Because, I do understand, often the appearance of an appliance is just as important as the functionality!

The Philips AirFryer HD9220 includes auto shut off at the end of cooking time, a ready signal light, temperature control, cord storage, and non-slip feet.

The HD9220 weighs 15.4 lbs. It is rather heavy. If you know you’ll need a lighter model, look at the Philips TurboStar range because these are the lightest models (see review below).

The HD9220 operates on 120Volts and has 1425Watts of power. The capacity is 1.75 lbs and this means it can hold one bag of frozen French fries. The AirFryer HD9220 does not include any preset functions. It does have the option to buy it with a recipe book.

Who is the Philips AirFryer HD9220 best for?

If you like the analog turn dial controls and you’re looking for a cheaper option, then the HD9220 is ideal. The capacity is big enough for cooking fries and other side dishes. If you want to cook an entire meal for two, this model may not be big enough.

If you know you’re really only buying an AirFryer to make healthier fries then this is an excellent choice. But don’t think it is limited to fries. It can do everything else from fish and vegetables to fried chicken and even desserts like New York Cheesecake (one of my favorites!)

If you know you will mainly cook side dishes, this model is perfect. But, if you want to cook entire meals, you may need to get a larger model.

If you like turn dial controls, this is ideal. But if you can’t live without digital controls, then there are a couple of other options (see below).

Just one more thing…and this might be super important for some people…the basket needs to be hand washed on this model. If you want a dishwasher-safe basket you’ll need to look at the similar, but digital, HD9230 model. For me this is not a big problem because I always fill the dishwasher with dishes anyway so there’s rarely room for the basket and it’s a quick hand wash anyway. But if this is going to bother you, only consider the dishwasher safe model (see below).

In addition to the HD9230 model there are several other Philips AirFryers with dishwasher safe baskets (see reviews below).

⇒ Philips AirFryer Viva HD9230 Review

This model is very similar to the last one (above). The first thing you’ll notice when you compare Philips Airfryer models, is the digital touch screen interface. This allows you to adjust the temperature and it includes a timer for up to 60 minutes cooking time.

Compare Philips AirFryer Models HD9230

⇒  Click Here to see today’s price on the Philips AirFryer HD9230

If you’re trying to compare Philips AirFryer models, then it’s good to know that the digital Philips HD9230 with its 60 minute timer has the advantage over the Philips HD9220 which only has a 30 minute timer.

One of the biggest advantages of getting the HD9230 model is that the non-stick coated removable drawer and food basket are both dishwasher safe for convenience.

The weight of the AirFryer HD9230 model is 15.4 lbs. If you’re looking for a lighter model, check out the Philips TurboStar range (below).

If you want to compare Philips AirFryer models, this HD9230 is the same size capacity as the HD9220. It also operates on 120 Volts and uses 1425 Watts power. It doesn’t include preset functions. The digital display includes touch screen controls. The numbers displayed for temperature and time are very clear.

If you like to be precise about the number of minutes you put on the timer then you’ll prefer this digital display over the analog turn dial on the HD9220 model.

Another advantage of the Philips Viva HD9230 is that it comes with an extra double-layered rack which can take skewers on the top. Of course, if you want to buy the analog Philips HD9220 model you can still buy the double rack separately as an accessory. But it’s good to know you get it included with the digital HD9230 model when you buy it.

Compare Philips AirFryer Models HD9230 White

⇒ For the price on this white model HD9230, Click Here

The Philips AirFryer Viva HD9230 comes in black or white. The white color option does tend to be more expensive than the black which is the more popular color with consumers. The price can vary depending on whether one color is discounted (Click Here to find out today’s price).

Compare Philips AirFryer models HD9220 vs HD9230

So, in a nutshell, to compare Philips Airfryer models HD9220 vs HD9230:

  • They both have the same capacity
  • They both have the same power/wattage
  • HD9220 has analog turn dials
  • HD9230 has a digital touch screen interface
  • HD9230 digital model has a dishwasher-safe basket and removable drawer
  • The analog HD9220 has a 30 minute timer for cooking
  • The digital HD9230 has a 60 minute timer
  • Neither model has preset functions
  • They both come in either black or white
  • The HD9220 analog model is usually cheaper than the HD9230 digital model but this can change depending on daily fluctuations in price and, in particular, when sales discounts apply

⇒ Philips Viva TurboStar HD9621 Review

So, what is the Philips Viva TurboStar HD9621?

The HD9621 TurboStar is part of the Viva collection in the Philips range. It has several similar features to the other Viva AirFryers like the same capacity (1.75lbs) and same power (1425W). It has a 30 minute cooking timer, an auto shut off feature, non-slip feet and the QuickClean feature.

At the time of writing the Philips Viva TurboStar HD9621 had 4.2 out of 5 stars on Amazon reviews.

Philips AirFryer HD9621

Check out the price on this Philips TurboStar HD9621

As soon as you see the Philips TurboStar HD9621 you’ll realise that it’s an analog model. There are two turn dial controls, similar to the HD9220 AirFryer model. These dials control temperature and cooking time. There are no preset features.

If you’re more interested in a digital display then you’ll prefer the Philips Avance TurboStar HD9641 (for more details, see below).

What’s new on the Philips Viva TurboStar HD9621?

QuickClean is unique to the TurboStar range. This feature lets you remove the base of the basket for easy cleaning. Since this model is dishwasher friendly, I love that the base is removable because you don’t need to place the whole basket in the dishwasher when there’s only little space left after you’ve filled the dishwasher with all your dinner plates.

You can place just the base of the basket in the dishwasher or you can remove the base and place it in separately with the ring part in there as well. This really does add convenience.

The base removes easily with an extra, red tab marked “pull” added to the basket handle compared to the other AirFryer models.

The TurboStar models also use the universal EasyClick handle. This is said to be an advantage to help you mix and match the right cooking accessories. I think the biggest advantage of the EasyClick handle is that it gives you more storage options.

You can store the handle inside the basket. And with the handle being removable this also gives you more cleaning options. No room for the handle in the dishwasher because it’s full? Simple take it off and wash the rest of the basket.

What is TurboStar?

One of the main differences in the TurboStar range is their method of air circulation. The TurboStar technology is available on the Philips AirFryer TurboStar Viva HD9621 and the Avance HD9641 models.

If you read the description of TurboStar technology it sounds great. But I notice that the Philips AirFryer HD9240 which is their top-shelf model with all the bells and whistles has kept the Rapid Air Technology that’s also found in the Viva HD9220 and the HD9230 (see reviews above for these two models).

For this reason, I don’t think there’s much difference in the air circulation method. Both of these Philips technologies seem to do a fantastic job at cooking food crispy on the outside and keeping it moist on the inside especially for things like chicken wings or fries. The cooking result for both is also perfect when you stack the food in, like we all do with fries. So, if you’re trying to decide on the basis of the air circulation technology, I think you’re going to have a hard time comparing Philips AirFryer models.

There are other features on these Philips TurboStar models to consider. For more details on the direct comparison with the other models, keep reading below.

Are the Viva models the same size and weight?

If you want to compare Philips AirFryer models on weight then the Viva TurboStar is definitely a lighter weight than the other Viva models. It weighs in at 11.7lbs compared to over 15lbs for the other Viva’s. If you want to compare Philips AirFryer models on weight, this is the lightest one you’ll find.

If you need to compare Philips AirFryer models on size, this Viva TurboStar is quite different in external dimensions compared to the other Viva models (full dimensions listed in table below).

The Philips Viva TurboStar is shorter in overall height than the HD9220 (but remember it is the same capacity for the food). For most people this probably won’t be very significant. But if you happen to have low upper cabinets above the counter in your kitchen then this will be important. If definitely gives you a little bit more room above the AirFryer.

Is the Viva TurboStar HD9621 better at browning food?

Because the heating element is lower in the Viva TurboStar compared to other Viva models it does seem to brown the food a bit more.

For me this is an advantage because I think the whole point of an air fryer is to get that tasty outer texture while keeping the flavor and moisture inside the food. However, if you’re concerned about browning and you want to keep browning to a minimum, then it’s good to know about this so you can choose another model.

If you’re interested in more details about these differences, see the section below comparing the HD9621 and the HD9220.

If you’re trying to compare Philips AirFryer models on browning ability, there’s really not very much of a difference. This is one area where you don’t need to worry too much because they all do a great job.

⇒  Philips Avance TurboStar HD9641 Review

This model is similar to the Viva TurboStar HD9621 but it has several important and improved features.

Compare Philips AirFryer Models HD9641

⇒  For an excellent price on the Philips HD9641, Click Here

First, you’ll notice that this model is the only one out of all the reviews that has a combination turn dial along with a digital display. I like this feature (it reminds me of the user interface on the Instant Pot Ultra model).

This QuickControl dial is fast to use. You simply turn it and click it in to select. There are also blister buttons beside the digital display to select different functions.

Personally, I find this type of QuickControl more satisfying to use than a touch screen on a digital interface. It is easier, there is more tactile feedback on what you’re doing and the dial is fast to use.

I know everyone loves touchscreens, so maybe it’s just me, but if you do like to mix it up with the combination of a turn dial and a digital display, then the Philips Avance TurboStar HD9641 is the perfect model for you.

What else does the Philips Avance TurboStar HD9641 offer?

The Avance TurboStar has all the usual features you’d expect. It includes 1.75lbs capacity, an auto off feature, 1425 Watts of power, uses 120 Volts and has TurboStar technology air flow.

This HD9641 model includes the QuickClean feature so you can remove the mesh base of the basket for cleaning. The non-stick oven drawer and the basket are both dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.

The HD9641 also boasts the EasyClick handle (same as the HD9621) for exchanging accessories as well as easy cleaning and storing.

Advantages of the Avance TurboStar HD9641

One of the advantages of getting the Philips Avance TurboStar HD9641 is that it has a 60 minute cooking timer. This is twice as long as the Viva TurboStar model. If you’re trying to compare Philips AirFryer models between the two TurboStars then this is a big advantage.

Similar to the Viva TurboStar, the Avance TurboStar model is a lower height if you prefer extra room between it and your top kitchen cabinets (see full dimensions in table below).

Weighing 12 lbs, the Avance TurboStar is just a little heavier than the Viva TurboStar, but lighter than the other Philips AirFryer models. This is a big advantage for people who want to store the AirFryer rather than leaving it on the counter.

As mentioned above, the QuickControl feature is an advantage to me. But if you prefer to go digital along with a touchscreen then you’ll be best with another model of Philips AirFryer.

The HD9641 also has the EasyClick removable handle for easy storage.

The biggest advantage of the Avance TurboStar HD9641 is the 4 present functions. These are preset programs for popular dishes so you can cook them easily with just one click. The programs are for frozen fries, meat, fish and poultry drumsticks. This really does add convenience to your AirFryer. You still get to check your food during the cooking process and there’s still manual control over temperature and time if that’s what you want to use. The preset programs on the HD9641 are in addition to the normal great features you’d expect from a Philips AirFryer.

Does it have a keep warm function?

Another special feature on the Philips Avance TurboStar HD9641 is the keep warm function. This allows for flexible serving time. The keep warm function operates for up to 30 minutes. The other AirFryer models don’t offer this feature.

Personally, I love using a keep warm feature on a cooking appliance if I have it. And if you have the chance to get an AirFryer with this function I’d generally say yes, get it. However, with an AirFryer, you may be using it for shorter cooking times which means you’ll only be turning it on closer to the time you need the food done. You may not use the keep warm function very much, if at all.

On an appliance like a Sous Vide machine or an Induction Rice Cooker, I think the keep warm function is more important. Obviously, it’s up to your own individual cooking style. So, if you need it, get this HD9641 model. If you don’t need it, I wouldn’t be too fussed about choosing another AirFryer because you want to give priority to other features.

Comparison of the Philips Viva TurboStar HD9621 vs Philips Avance TurboStar HD9641

Let’s compare Philips AirFryer models between the two TurboStar models. The main differences between these two are:

  • the user control interface,
  • the cooking timer,
  • preset programs and
  • the keep warm function.

The main similarity is they both have the TurboStar technology. They also both have a lower external height than the other Philips AirFryers and they’re a lighter weight.

The Philips Viva TurboStar HD9621 has an analog user interface with the two turn dials. With the Philips Avance TurboStar HD9641 you get the combination modern turn dial with a digital display and blister buttons.

The Viva TurboStar has cooking time up to 30 minutues. With the Avance TurboStar you get longer cooking time of 60 minutes along with the keep warm function for 30 minutes. The Avance TurboStar also has the advantage of the 4 preset programs to make your AirFryer even more convenient than it already is.

Both models have the same food capacity and they boast the QuickClean feature where the basket base releases. They’re both dishwasher safe for the removable oven drawer and basket.

Let’s compare the Philips Viva TurboStar HD9621 vs Philips Viva HD9220

These are both analog models with turn dials. But beyond that there’s quite a lot of difference between them.

To compare Philips AirFryer models on dimensions you should know that the Philips Viva HD9220 is taller in height and a tiny bit bigger in footprint on your counter.

Both models operate on the same power and voltage. They have the same food capacity and they both provide the same cooking timer up to a maximum of 30 minutes.

The maximum temperature for the TurboStar is 400 degrees F and it’s 390 degrees F for the Viva HD9220. There is probably no difference in the cooking result between these temperatures but if you like having a slightly higher temp available, at least you know you’ve got that option in the TurboStar HD9621.

If you’re trying to compare Philips AirFryer models HD9220 and the TurboStars, then one of the big differences is the ease of cleaning. The TurboStar has three advantages here. It has a base that clicks out from the bottom of the basket. The QuickClick handle is removable from the basket for easy cleaning and easier storage. And the removable oven drawer along with the basket are both dishwasher safe on the TurboStar model. On the Viva HD9220 you’ll need to hand wash the drawer and basket.

The next advantage of the TurboStar HD9621 is that it’s lighter in weight, 11.7 lbs vs 15.4 lbs for the HD9220.

At last, we get to the top-shelf Philips AirFryer – the Avance XL HD9240. This is a very popular model. If you want to compare Philips AirFryer models on price then you need to know that this one is more expensive than the other models but it offers more features and of course, it gives you the Philips high quality you expect in an AirFryer.

This AirFryer has all the bells and whistles. To begin, there’s a digital touchscreen user interface (no dials). And this is a larger model.

The food capacity is larger than the other Philips models and the surface of the basket is larger for more food to sit on the basket. The capacity is 2.65 lbs compared to 1.75 lbs in the others. The power is greater than the other AirFryers, it has 1750 Watts.

You may be getting the impression that the Philips AirFryer Avance XL HD9240 is bigger and better than the other models – you’re right, it is.

Need to feed a family?

If you need to feed a family, this is the AirFryer for you. And, as already mentioned above, if you want to cook an entire meal for 2 or 3 people including fish/meat, vegetables and fries, then this is the AirFryer to do it.

The surface area of the basket in the Philips Avance XL is 8.5” x 8.5” with rounded corners.

The Avance XL has a 60 minute cooking timer and a maximum temperature of 390 degrees F. It includes all the usual features you’d expect like automatic shut off, ready signal light, nonslip feet and Rapid Air Technology.

The nonstick oven drawer and basket are dishwasher safe for convenient cleaning.

What is unique about the Avance XL HD9240?

In addition to being larger, the Avance XL has a smart preset button that memorizes the settings for your favorite food.

If you’re trying to compare Philips AirFryer models, then the main differences for the Avance XL are a larger capacity, higher power, and the smart preset button to memorize settings. In addition, it has a digital touchscreen control panel.

Main differences between Philips Avance XL HD9240 and Philips AirFryer TurboStar

The Verdict

If you’re about to buy an AirFryer, you really can’t go wrong with Philips. If you want to compare Philips AirFryer models you’ll need to give priority to your own cooking preferences.

Even if you’re on a budget then you can get a great Philips AirFryer at the cheaper end. Just remember that the Philips Viva AirFryer HD9220 is not dishwasher safe. But apart from that, it really does give you great cooking results. And you’ll be eating healthier.

And if you want the larger size AirFryer then the Avance XL HD9240 really is the best option.

Apart from the dishwasher issue and the size issue, go with the features you regard as priority. Everyone has different cooking habits so don’t feel pressured into buying the latest top-shelf AirFryer if you don’t need the extra size or touchscreen. Once you compare Philips AirFryer models, you’ll be really happy with whichever one you choose, based on your personal preference.

For the removable base from the bottom of the basket remember there’s the QuickClean feature on the Philips TurboStar. It also has the EasyClick handle to store the AirFryer in a smaller space with the handle removed.

With a Philips AirFryer you’ll be eating healthier, cutting down on calories and cooking your food in much less time than using a traditional oven. The best part about your Philips AirFryer is the crispy texture on the outside and the moist and flavorful inside. I wish I was eating fried chicken right now!  Enjoy your new AirFryer.
